About Us

Sociologists Talking About Population Health (STAPH) is the Rice Department of Sociology population health lab group, comprising Dr. Tony Brown, Dr. Christina Diaz, Dr. Bridget Gorman, Dr. Rachel Kimbro, Dr. JingĀ  Li, and Dr. Miranda Waggoner, and their postdoctoral fellows and Ph.D. students.

Our group focuses primarily on health disparities, broadly defined; both the shape of differences between groups as well as explanatory mechanisms for those differences. Some of the topic areas we are actively engaged in researching include:
